We were selected to join #TeamREV! As part of the program, Aperture will be ambassadors for the company, participating in monthly challenges to spread information about its products and values, and gaining store credit along the way. We are so excited to continue our work from last year with this sponsorship!
Outreach
We have begun our Women in FIRST Initiative by launching a survey all about women in FTC. The form (https://forms.gle/8afJRUcwbaSr7HpBA) asks some basic quantitative questions, then features optional discussion questions to open the conversation about how we can involve more women in FTC. After collecting responses, we will release the results on our website, helping countless others understand the statistics behind the importance of women-focused outreach. We have also accepted a wonderful outreach opportunity to work with the robotics programs at local Burke County public schools. Stay tuned for more info as our outreach plans become reality!
Membership and Recruitment
Our skill development period has mostly concluded. We conducted several workshops within each subteam, then moved to constructing mini outreach robots, giving our junior members hands-on experience. We are now moving into designing the first iteration of our competition robot.
Upcoming Events
On October 18th, we will volunteer at the Bull City FIRST Lego League scrimmage. On October 29th, we will demonstrate our robot at NCSSM Morganton’s Halloween Spooktacular community event. On November 8th, we will volunteer at the Spooky Duke 5k/10k costume march.
